Kathy grew up in the South but has also lived in mega cities around the country, including Philadelphia, Miami, and Baltimore. Her experiences helped form the soul of köttkömm and influences of both show up in her designs, giving them an urban edge fused with a classic look. They simultaneously tell the stories of an easy Southern lifestyle and a bustling cosmopolitan city, making her designs equally perfect for an evening stroll along the Battery in Charleston or navigating the morning rush in New York City.

Kathy’s degree in textile design is also key to köttkömm’s identity. Her fabric selections are careful studies of both fashion and function, and she strongly believes that any fabric should meet and exceed the expectations the wearer.

She is passionate about creating a local product and has assembled a first-class design and production team of pattern makers, graders, and markers based in her Upstate South Carolina home. All garments bearing the köttkömm label are manufactured and finished in McBee, SC, and she collaborates with a number regional artists.

Kathy’s mission is to continue creating a ready-to-wear line that suits the stylishness of the moment and the tried-and-true dependency of pieces you return to, time and time again, regardless of the style trend of the times.
